Trinity UCC sermon turns ugly

I guess this is a new spin on the "Sacred Conversation on Race" compliments of Trinity United Church of Christ. This is what happens when you let an insane Catholic priest like Rev. Michael Pfleger spew his venom in your church.

  1. FWIW,

On May 29, 2008, Pfleger was rebuked by presidential candidate Barack Obama for comments he delivered at a sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ. Pfleger had mocked Hillary Clinton, Obama's opponent for the Democratic Party nomination, saying, "I really believe that she just always thought, this is mine... Then out of nowhere came, 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama' and she said, 'Oh, damn. Where did you come from? I'm white. I'm entitled. There's a black man stealing my show.'" In response, Obama said he was "deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric". Pfleger later apologized in a statement released by Saint Sabina: "I regret the words I chose Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Sen. Obama's life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Sen. Clinton or anyone else who saw them."[^ John McCormick and Manya A. Brachear. "Another video from Obama's church". 2. From the church that spurred the need for a "Sacred Conversation."

When Trinity's Rev. Moss said that Father P. "needs no introduction," his remarks show why.

This is simply another example of who the leadership at Trinity UCC is and what they do-- race baiters who hide their own racism behind the term "white supremacy."

And Obama says he didn't know... yeah right.

  3. Looks like the UCC leadership is going to try to ignore this entirely.......and by not allowing comments any longer, they can claim no controversay.

  4. Who's not allowing comments?
    I've no trouble.

What an embarrassment. First, why give your pulpit to a Catholic Priest? Second, it is obvious that they respected and agreed with his views. Third, where is the Gospel?

  6. What's wrong with giving you pulpit to a Catholic priest?!!!
Trinity has a tradition of guest preachers.

  7. Don, the UCC website used to allow comments following their stories. They no longer do that. The blog is a joke with any dissent not being printed. I've tried many times to leave scientific study links on global warming that point to something other than human causes and have never ever had any of them printed. Sorry - Ive given up on the UCC blog altogether.

  8. I'm torn over Obama and Trinity and my beloved UCC.

But beware of 4Simpsons. He's about as tolerant of lefty believers and some in the UCC are tolerant of righty believrs: not much. His why question over a Catholic in the pulpit speaks volumes.

    Over and out.
