Bienvenidos de nuevo Puerto Rico?

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Sources in the national office have confirmed that there have been ongoing conversations with churches in the Iglesia Evangelica Unida de Puerto Rico (United Evangelical Church of Puerto Rico) that may eventually see the conference or a significant number of churches rejoin the United Church of Christ. While the theological differences that caused the conference to leave the UCC one year ago still remain, the focus of the discussions are focused on areas where there is agreement and in areas of mutual need. Asked if an announcement would be made at General Synod regarding the status of Puerto Rican churches, the national office source said "anything is possible but nothing is planned at the moment."
